Eleanor “Ellie” Walsh is a small town free-lance writer. She takes any and all writing jobs she can get while hoping one day to fulfill her dream of becoming a best-selling author. When her husband Jackson is injured in the line of duty, and is forced to take time off from his job in the police department, the two of them scramble to make ends meet. Ellie barely has time to think about her novel; her time is completely monopolized by jobs that pay the bills.

However, everything is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives in the mail. The letter is addressed to Eleanor Walsh from one of the best selling authors of all time, L.M Quinn! Ellie can hardly believe her luck. L.M Quinn, while prolific and one of the best selling authors of all time, is also reclusive and secretive. L.M. Quinn has never given an interview before, has never had her photo taken, and has never knowingly been seen in public.

The letter states that L.M. Quinn has specifically requested Eleanor Walsh to write a piece on her. As the first–and possibly only–interview that the prolific L.M. Quinn has ever granted, Ellie knows that she could sell the article to almost any newspaper or magazine in the country–maybe even the world.  If the article sold to the highest bidder, this could be not only the foot in the door that Ellie needs to jump-start her writing career, but also make enough money to sustain her and Jackson until he recovers from his injury.
